A Typical Window Replacement Timeline

The process of replacing windows is far less difficult than most home improvements. However, being aware of the process can help you keep your project on course and prepare for potential developments. Renewal by Andersen® of Sacramento, your trusted source of high-quality double-hung and casement windows, provides a summary of what a typical window replacement timeline looks like.

A Typical Window Replacement Timeline

Before Installation

Your contractor may need a few days or up to a week to order the new windows from the manufacturer after the contract is signed and the down payment is made. While waiting for the agreed-upon installation day, it would be wise to prepare your home for the window replacement. Take time to clean the areas around the windows and set up a path for the installers who’ll be coming in and out of your home to remove your old windows and bring in the new ones. At least one day before installation, your window installer will contact you to confirm the appointment.

Installation Day

Your residential window contractor will arrive on time on the day of installation. Depending on the number of windows that will be installed, the whole job may take a day or two. Once the project is complete, the installers will make sure to tidy up and clear the job site of all debris before calling it a day.

After Installation

A quality examination of the new windows will be performed, either by a representative of the window manufacturer or by your project manager. Before the installation is declared complete, any errors will be fixed and it will be reviewed again. Additionally, you’ll receive instructions on how to clean and maintain the new windows as well as a demonstration of their functions. After a few days, your contractor will send a representative to finalize warranty registration, collect any outstanding payments and carry out a quick customer satisfaction survey.
